A year ago we looked at the state of nonprofits on Salesforce and what it meant for Scotland. A lot has moved since. Salesforce has renamed its nonprofit products, put Agentforce at the centre of its roadmap, and made clear that the older Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP) is not where new investment is going.
For Scottish charities running on Salesforce, that raises a practical question: what should you do now, and in what order?
A platform with new names and a new direction
The clearest change is naming.
Salesforce now describes its nonprofit offering as Agentforce 360 for Nonprofits, and Agentforce Nonprofit is the new name for Nonprofit Cloud. That product is the focus of Salesforce's nonprofit roadmap.
The wider platform has moved too. Agentforce is now switched on by default in eligible orgs as part of Winter '27, with no additional cost and no action required, and Dreamforce 2026 added a wave of agents, including Agentforce Coworker, which is generally available.
You can read more in Salesforce Ben's coverage of the auto-enable and Salesforce's Dreamforce announcements.
The lesson from 2025 still stands: these tools only deliver when the data underneath them is clean and the organisation owns the system.
NPSP: stay or move?
NPSP has not been discontinued. It remains supported, and you can still raise support cases. But Salesforce ended feature development on its managed packages in March 2023, and no new features have been added in the three years since, with none planned. NPSP is a set of six managed packages installed on Sales Cloud licences, not a licence type.
That gives Scottish charities two honest options:
- Stay on NPSP for now. Existing users are not required to migrate. This can be sensible if your setup is stable, your data is clean and your funders are not asking for more than you can report today. The trade-off is that you will not benefit from new nonprofit features.
- Plan a move to Agentforce Nonprofit. This is a cleaner data model aligned with Salesforce's roadmap, but it is a real project. You will remap data, revisit processes and rebuild automations. One reader comment on Salesforce Ben notes the newer model relies on person accounts and more data rows, which can add cost for both small and large charities.
Our view: the decision is about timing and readiness, not panic. A short audit of your data, automations and reporting needs will tell you which path fits.
Power of Us: what approved charities get
Salesforce's Power of Us programme still gives approved nonprofits donated Enterprise Edition licences, plus discounts on other products, training and events. The change to watch is the bundle: recipients now choose one of two, either 10 Agentforce Nonprofit licences or 10 Sales and Service Cloud licences.
Charities that pick the Sales and Service Cloud bundle can manually install NPSP, but new qualifying orgs no longer receive a fully configured NPSP instance.
If you are applying for the first time, or renewing, it is worth deciding which bundle matches your plans before you choose. Scottish charities should check their eligibility with Salesforce.
The familiar frictions, with higher stakes
The problems we described in 2025 have not gone away, and AI raises the stakes on each of them:
- Duplicate and inconsistent data. Supporter records arrive from many sources. Agents act on whatever data they find, so duplicates and gaps now produce wrong answers faster. Salesforce Ben's recent coverage asks exactly this: is bad data sabotaging your AI agents?
- Spreadsheets and manual work. Receipting, reconciliation, attendance and referral tracking still often happen outside Salesforce. Flow remains the first tool to reach for, and Winter '27 brings a redesigned Flow Builder canvas and new Split elements. See the Winter '27 Flow Builder changes.
- Fragile integrations. Connections to donation, accounting and email tools can fail quietly. Simple, monitored integrations are still better than clever, unmonitored ones.
Governance matters more than ever
Technology alone will not fix these issues. With Agentforce on by default in eligible orgs, someone in your charity needs to decide how it is used. A lightweight governance framework still covers the essentials:
- Data ownership and regular review cycles.
- Change management and sandbox testing, including the release preview cycle.
- User permissions, including who can build agents. Admins can control this with the Manage AI Agents permission and can switch the Agentforce platform off through the Einstein setting.
- Documentation and onboarding for new staff.
Outcomes reporting for Scottish funders
Scottish funders increasingly want evidence of outcomes, such as wellbeing, employability and community connection, rather than outputs alone. Salesforce can capture this well when it is configured with that purpose in mind. Done properly, you can track progress over time, compare cohorts or locations, and show impact to funders quickly.
Whichever route you take, NPSP or Agentforce Nonprofit, design your outcomes framework first and your configuration second.
Looking ahead
Three trends will shape the next year for Scottish charities on Salesforce:
- Agents move from pilot to default. With Agentforce enabled in eligible orgs and new agents arriving after Dreamforce, expect more agent features to appear in your org.
- A clearer split between NPSP and Agentforce Nonprofit. Without new NPSP features, the gap will widen, so a migration plan is worth having even if you do not act yet.
- Data quality as a prerequisite. Charities that invest in clean data and clear ownership now will adopt these tools with confidence.
Fractional Salesforce support for Scottish charities
Most Scottish charities cannot justify a full-time Salesforce architect, a full-time admin and a technology director, yet their systems are business-critical. That is the gap FJB Digital's fractional support is built to fill.
With fractional Salesforce support you get senior judgement on an ongoing basis, at a fraction of the cost of a permanent hire:
- One person across strategy and systems. The person advising on your NPSP or Agentforce Nonprofit decision is the person who builds and maintains it, with no account-management layers and no gap between who decided and who delivered.
- Ongoing admin and Flow support. Day-to-day changes, release-preview testing, permissions and Agentforce settings handled for you, so the platform keeps working the way your team works.
- Continuity. The same person owns the relationship over time, rather than a rotating cast of contractors.
- Support for your wider technology. Where you need it, the same relationship can extend to integrations and technology strategy, including fractional CTO-level input.
A good first step is a short review of your Salesforce org: your data quality, automations and reporting, and whether NPSP or Agentforce Nonprofit is the right path for you. From there we can agree how much support, if any, makes sense.
